With the holiday season right around the corner, gift giving is top of mind for many. Fortunately, finding that perfect gift for a loved one doesn't have to be stressful and you don't have to look far. In fact, shopping close (in your own community) is one of the best ways to give back this year.

Why shop small?

First and foremost, shopping local stimulates the local economy and supports local jobs. When people buy from local businesses, the money they spend is put directly back into their community. Yet, there's more benefit to shopping local than most realize. Many times, local stores can help shoppers find some of the most unique gift ideas for loved ones.

Small Business Saturday, a special holiday that falls between Black Friday and Cyber Monday on the last Saturday of November, is a day dedicated to shopping at small businesses. Shopping in your own community is especially important in the era of online shopping and big box stores. This year, think big by shopping small.
